Dear Zehut Members!

The following is a combined message from the proposers of the constitutions you will be voting on tomorrow.

From: Party Chairman – Mr. Moshe Feiglin

Dear Zehut members

The three proposals before you were written with good intent, and by dedicated members to whom Zehut is certain dear to them. They all have advantages and disadvantages, but in my opinion, the basic question that every member of the movement must ask before deciding between them should not be directed towards the proposals, but inward, towards himself.

Why did I, a member of the movement, join Zehut?

Did I join a party in which like all other parties, the oil that drives its wheels is the desire to gain power and position, and in which the ideas are a but a tool for that?

And therefore, am I suspicious of the party leaders, as such, and see my role as supervisor and inhibitor of this desire for position?

Or –

Have I joined a unique movement that, unlike any other party, its leaders have repeatedly given up their power and position (as well as their economic future), and what motivates them is not their position, but their vision?

And therefore – do I believe in the leaders of Zehut and their ideas, and did I join the party to help them?

All three proposals are proposals for a democratic movement, a movement in which both its head and its members are elected in both internal and open primaries. All of the proposals regulate party institutions, the way they are chosen, their interactions, as well as the consultation and reporting processes for their members.

But the premise of one proposal is a basic confidence in the head of the movement, confidence in the broad vision that he sees more clearly than his followers do, confidence in the integrity of his intentions and his sincere dedication to the goal.

While the premise of the other two proposals is a complete sense of equality, between the trailblazer and the least of its hangers-on, and thus a fundamental suspicion of the leadership, as such.

Dear Zehut members.

The real decision at hand isn’t about this or that detail, the decision is between confidence and suspicion.

This year we learned in the most painful way what happens to a unique vision-based movement when the confidence in it turns into suspicion.

The only chance for a resurgence of Zehut is a clear and unequivocal return from suspicion to confidence.

Thanks and greetings to you all
Moshe Feiglin

From: Ms. Lisa Liel

For more than a third of my life, I have considered Moshe Feiglin to be the only leader capable of addressing or even identifying the real problems in this country. I believe that he is the one who will bring the message of identity, liberty and meaning to the nation of Israel.

I have worked hard drafting this Constitution. I have made every effort to ensure that the chairman has vital powers and that things that don’t need to trouble the chairman are dealt with by other elected officials who are also committed to trusting our elected leader.

There are those who see this vote as a kind of “vote of confidence”, since one of the proposals was put forward by the Chairman of the movement. But in truth, that’s not the case. Ultimately, everyone who votes, whether for my proposal or for Moshe’s, will be doing so from a place of confidence in Moshe Feiglin as leader and chairman of Zehut.

At the beginning of the process my proposal was fundamentally different in many areas. But when Moshe’s proposal was revealed, I adopted a good deal of his content. Why? In some cases, his version was simply better than mine, and in other cases, both versions were good, but I adopted Moshe’s version, because there is no point in having a needless dispute with the chairman of the movement. And so, what was created in “my” proposal is essentially a combination of the proposals. It is a document that is truly collaborative product by Moshe, by me, and by all the dozens of members who offered me notes and suggestions, both before Moshe’s proposal was revealed and afterwards.

Not only that, but according to the constitution I propose, the brainchild of Moshe and all of us, it will be much easier to make changes in the regulations if necessary. Because, ultimately, we all want the same thing: to bring to the State of Israel the message of Zehut, under the leadership of Moshe Feiglin.

Moshe has said more than once that the main cause of the crisis we experienced in the summer of 2019 was that there were no clear lines. The powers of the chairman were not well defined, and this requires a thorough revision. We all agree on this. But we must also remember that a large number of Zehut members left in the wake of the unpleasantness that occurred. We all want to bring in new members, not only to replace those who left, but in order for our movement to flourish and grow until we can finally bring our message to the state and to the nation.

I believe that if my proposal is chosen, we can expect a much better future, and true success. We will become a “light unto politics” in the State of Israel. An example to be emulated. We will determine new rules to the game of politics that other parties will have to adopt, because their members will see that it’s possible for a leader to work in full cooperation with members of his movement to achieve a common goal.

Thanks, Lisa Liel
